Teaching the Eskimo Roll
Hey was teaching it in a pool the other night to several people, the guys had been shown before but everyone had a different technique to setting up and whats not!
Was wondering how IFS viewers would go about teaching the eskimo roll, what steps and so on. for example what I have been doing is:
1) getting them use to going over with a few unconcious rescues
2) having them lean over on the side with me holding the blade and getting them rolling from that postion
3) removing my hands so they are coming up themselves
4) having them start from the tucked position, sweeping to the position in part 2 and 3 and then rolling up.
It seems to work but afraid it may be a bad technique!

this guy has a good few videos like this with some very good descriptions

I explain the normal screw roll and let them try it if they get it great, if not i show them the pawlata roll, most get it 1st time, have them do that a few times to get used to the motion of rolling themselves up, then switch back to the screw, by this stage if they miss the 1st attempt they can set up the pawlata roll and roll up themselves.
I find it builds more confidence in themselves knowing they can come up themselves, and not having to rely on a T the whole time, havent met anyone yet who hasn't been screw rolling by the end of the session.
