Have a look around at what others are using and don't be afraid to ask for a go.
I personally like H2o paddles. Feel ,price and durability being the positives. I have a set of teams i've brought to hell and back and they still look like the second day i used them 3 years on.
The H2o-2 might be the one for you. More all-round.
To krank or not to krank that is a whole other question.
If you krank you'll never go back, you may also never experience tendonitis. Straight shafts are cheaper, probably stronger and lighter.
Feather of blade's is personal preference. my preference is 30 degrees. Oh and kranks.
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
