Maybe it's just the shiny carbon fiber - oooohhh, aaahhhh - but this concept boat by Wave Sport caught my attention. WS exhibited the boat, based on the Project series and dubbed the Project 54 CX, at the Outdoor Retailer. On the company blog, Rob Peerson, Wave Sport's head boat designer, says they are trying to evolved the Project design and come up with a light-weight composite competition model. The CX is made of graphite carbon and weighs in completely outfitted at a feathery 19 pounds.

It features a new seat design that adjust with a single thumbscrew and can shift to lift the paddler's legs. The thigh braces are a new design similar to those on the new versions of Wave Sport's Diesel river runners.
