Any going to Uganda this Christmas? I'm thinking of going over around the 16th of December for 3 weeks.

Is Bujagali falls still there? Is Silverback runnable? At what stage is the dam? I see google earth has the Jinja area covered in detail now.

If its still on schedule Silverback will be completely gone and the backup will have a big effect on Buj.

Best thing to do is to email Jamie at kayak the nile.

I always felt there was better quality paddling on the Day 2 section. Well i enjoyed it more.

Stay on the Hairy Lemon Island buddy. Nile special on your door step. It doesn't get much better than that.

Doesn't quite have the party atmosphere of NRE but at least you won't come home an alco Laughing

Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

I'll email Jamie alright and let yee know what its like. Still the question remains, any one else going out then?

I thought the time of year to go kayaking on the Zam was August/September!

It really depends, later in the year Novembre / December the river is lower ( well as low at the Zam gets) and the play features are more defined. In aug / sept the river tends to surge allot. so as you could be surfing a wave and all of a sudden it will totally green out and your off. Like wise you are in a fluffy hole going round & round and the next min you are getting your ass beat down.

But it a savage place to go, I am trying to get awain for 3 ish weeks in OCT.

Here is what Jamie from KTN said this week.

Hi Peter The only thing missing at the moment is the Ugly sisters but I would expect that we will loose the top section from Bujagali to Silverback early next year.  Widow maker is still running as are all the back channels. silverback is just closed a few afternoons a week for blasting but is nice and chunky. Total Gunga has been washed out a bit. Everything below silverback is just the same and malalu although low is still working ok. Nile Special is awesome. Hope this helps Jamie Kayak the Nile jamie@kayakthenile.com www.kayakthenile.com
