1st day of team training, team registers and Len finally gets here
Today saw the Irish freestyle team take to the water along with the French team. One hour to perfect the moves and runs which will be put into practice on Wednesday by the seniors and on Thursday by the juniors.
I myself worked on entry moves as some of the guys here are making them look so easy that I thought it would be a perfect time to get them down. Out of 5 attempts I stuck only one and with only one days' training left I'm not sure I'll be doing it in the competition as your 2 rides in the prelims are added together.
After lunch team registration began and took ages. My brother Len finally arrived down during this time. As it turned out the French guy who he was meant to be getting a lift with, his van broke down. Len then managed to get a lift from a friend but with no roofrack resulting in him not having his personal boat down with him, however there are more Wavesport Projects 52s lying around here than you could shake a stick at so he'll not be stuck and besides some of you may remember a similar situation in Mundaka in October 2007 when he won the surf world champs in a borrowed boat so it may just be a good omen.
One more day's training left tomorrow morning before the real thing.
