Please Help Kayaker needed for 5 km swim race Dublin 26 july
Hi,
I'm swimming a 5km race on July 26th from Dun Laoghaire to Poolbeg and need to get someone to navigate/giude me in a kayak.
Navigation is difficult in open water and last year I went all over the place in this race and endced up getting hyperthermia as a result of being in cold water too long. Needless to say it wasn't great fun and spending an hour in an ambulance with a disapproving girlfriend and total memory loss of of the safety boat pulling me out of water with only 300 metres to go is something I'm keen to avoid again this year.
Having a kayak is really helpful as it keeps you swimming straight and thus prevents you from swimming and extra few kms.
So if anybody could let me know how to go about getting hold of someone to help me out it'd be great.

that's bvery kind of you it'd just be a paddling gig and help would be great. The race takes place from Windsurfer's pier in Dun Laoghaire and finishes at the half moon club house on the South Wall. The start time is 4pm next Saturday and weather permitting all will go ahead. I'm recovering from a bruised rib at present but should be ok for Sat,below is my email address so you can contact me if you're still up for it. The reason I'm getting in contact is that I'm taking part in an organised swim out to Inish Boffin on Saturday Aug 9. I would be travelling up at 1pm on the Friday. I'm trying to locate an experienced kayaker to accompany me on the 12 km swim. The kayakers are there only to navigate the swimmer all safety is taken care of by RIB's. The swim organiser can provide a kayak. The kayakers are looked after with a free dinner and free overnight hostel accomodation on the island as well as a few beers and I'm told they get together to do a trip around inishshark on the Sunday.
