Campsites Briancon Area
Hi Guys,
Has anyone got any recommendations for good campsites in the Briancon/l'Argentiere area as an alternative to the one at the slalom course at l'Argentiere?
Was thinking of the Canoe Control site anyone stayed there?
Brian
There is the one, UL always stay at in Mont Dauphin, its beside part of the durance above the st clement to embrum run and has a petting zoo and stuff beside it too! It is also along way in from the road and across railway tracks and its a big place from what I remember and Im not sure many other paddlers stay there though either so with only the UL crew it could get pretty lame!!!!!!!

You bastard Mike!
Yeah - it's a quiet place but it's a good place.
Nice flat area, marked out spots, electricity to each site, shower/toilet blocks, great restaraunt/bar and haven't heard of stuff getting pinched ever. It's 30 mins from Briancon, close to Mont Dauphin. We keep going back there cos we can camp a bit away from everyone else which makes 30 beery heads not so annoying every evening....

Hi Brian,
I worked for CC for a season and at the time it was a very nice campsite, shady and right next to the Gyronde so straight on for an afternoon run if you want. They were doing work on some toilet buildings last year so they should be nicer too.
It is also a bit away from the main road so less chance of stuff getting robbed, and there are always paddlers around. The guy who runs it, Stuart Woodward, British fellow in his fifties complete with beard and booming voice, will have about a zillion paddling stories.
I don't think they allow any camp fires though...
have a good one, Kim
