The company I work for is interested in setting up a shop, Does anyone know if there is a franchise option for the kayaking world? If so how does it work, if not what are the other options?

Based in kerry, and the shop in mind would be a kayaking and adventure sports shop, due to a large amount of interest and not alot of people wanting to drive all the way to cork.

I'd say there's plenty of people would like to see a shop in limerick too but I doubt it'd be a success...

If you're to open a shop in this country I'd say you'd be best to offer something that the others aren't.

From the shops I can think of offhand, Peak UK, Palm, Yak, Imersion research, werner, roughstuff, astral, sweet, jackson kayak, pyranha, dagger, liquid logic, wavesport, necky, artistic and many other brands who may not do a full range of clothing (playboater etc) are well covered.

In any dealings I've had with different shops I've always found their owners (MDAC, i-canoe, Splashtac) willing to send stuff for sizing by post and not be too rigid on price.

If you're going to go ahead with it, you would definitely have to offer something either different or better to attract people away from the routes that have already been available to them and have built some customer loyalty towards - no small job....

Carrauntuohill is the name the store in Killarney in that outlet centre.

They have a small section of basic paddling equipment, hillwalking and climbing gear.

Hope this helps,
