Clare Glens
Aisling,
The glens need recent (meaning in the previous 12 hours or thereabouts) and fairly heavy rain. Looking at forecasts, you're not going to see that in the next week or so. It's current water level is probably around .2 on the guage - see http://www.irishwhitewater.com/river_guide/river.php?id=236 for more details. 0.4m is considered a low but runable level.
There are often trees down on the glens so be aware of that especially after gusty weather.
two very experienced and dashing kayakers
Again with the "dashing" Rossco, it really is your favourite word to describe yourself, isn't it? Did your mammy tell you you're dashing sometime, or is this a notion you came up with all by yourself? :p

Hi Aisling,
The Glens are at a "very low so prob not really do-able unless you are really thirsty" level right now.
But any significant rain in the area should bring the level up following the "nice n high" action on Sunday eve last when two very experienced and dashing kayakers did not paddle straight into the run in to Big Eas without realising it was actually quite high.
And they didnt have to firefight.
Because they know the river sooo well and are really experienced?
Cheers,
Rosco.
p.s. the same two paddlers were not seen paddling out in the huge surf in lahinch on Sunday afternoon, and they werent scared and any time.
