Freestyle Courses
Hi Folks,
Kinda new to this having only started in the summer, I have just done a freestyle course with Moe Kelleher and Dave Crerar run by the guys in kayaking.ie
I just wanted to say how helpful and encouraging the two lads were when dealing with my lack of skills. I blagged a playboat from Alex Stanley who ownes kayaking.ie and Riverstyle.com and learned very quickly the difference between the titanic I had been in and the quick reacting playboat. Such a thrill. I can see why you are all so mad about it.
I can safely say i'm hooked. I am just wondering where most people have learned their playboating skills and on which rivers. I'm a member of the Inny Kayakers club and have done most of my stuff on the Inny. What would you suggest is the next step from there from a playboating perspective. I have heard talk of stackallen on the boyne but is there any other features that would suit someone like myself who is new to it?
On the freestyle fundamentals course I learned all about edge control, dynamic surfing and the beginnings of how to do the double pump along with a lot of correction and help on my technique so I feel I want to push myself a bit. I am paddling a loan boat from Alex, a Jackson All Star. So somewhere that this boat might be good in. I am mad keen to learn how to cartwheel and also to loop. They look like such fun.
Your thoughts would be appreciated
Joe
