Hi, just looking for information on the Zambezi river, if anyone has been there before and has information on the logistics of they're trip etc, or knows any good blogspots. Also has anyone ever flown from Uganda down to the Zambezi?

Any information would be great,

Cheers

Ais

http://www.thezambezi.com/

youll find almost everything you need to know at the address above, I went a few years back flew, the flights were booked through british airways, it was an aer lingus to heathrow british airways to Johannesburg and then nationwide airways to livingstone

the guys are thezambezi.com will arrange a visa for ya if you are going with them, and they will do all your shuttles porters fees, park fees etc. you will find links in the page to the hostels jollyboys and faulty towers,

i know the cork crew were there the same year and booked their flight to uganda when they were out there in a travel agent as i think they could haggle on the price and it was cheaper than booking it at home, but i dont know about the reverse journey also its cheaper to fly home from uganda than zambia.

im not sure if the money situation is still the same but we had to bring dollars out there and exchange them inside zambia.

hope that helps.

Hey ais,

I was on the Zam for a few weeks in sept this year.  I flew BA and then nationwide like Mike said (but you book it all through BA).

You will need help with the logistics on the Zam since the river is located inside the national park at the bottom of a gorge. For this you can go to Bundu adventures or zambezi.com.

Its pot luck whether or not there are other paddlers around - its certainly not as popular as Uganda (you can fly to Ugnada from Lusaka - about a days bus ride away from the Zam)

I would definitely recommend going - its a beautiful place with loads to do and great wildlife.

let me know if you are going as I might give you a few small things to bring over if thats ok

jenny :-)
