So can we expect a load of water related deaths over the summer when the masses take out their new kayaks?

Afternoon Folks! Apologies if I've interrupted ye're blog. Straight to the point........is there any facility around galway that provides begineers lessons for Kayaking? I've oonly done it a few times, mosttly sea kayaking in Australia, got knocked out and nearly lost me head to an on-coming surf board once. I'd love to give it a go again, I've lie very near the lake (so loads of water for practise) I'm just looking for recreational level at the moment so I can head off with peace of mind that I know how to manage really. If ye know of anyone that's willing to one or two lessons for a few quid, i'll consider it......if price is reasonable of course!!

I want to see this lidl kayak.  For all we know it could be an older design from a well known manufacturer being made under license.

Was looking for a kayak and have been asking for advice on what to buy and replying to ads for second hand kayaks, completely new to this sport but always wanted to try it out, on a reasonably tight budget so this kayak seems pretty well priced. So to all you experts out there that know, what do you think of this kayak and would you reccommend it to a complete beginner???

There is a canoe polo tournament on the 23/24th May in galway near the Cathedral. They might be able to point you to paddlers in the galway area.

Hi guys. Heres a bit of borin info about the lidl kayak..

It has to be a prijon because they own the trademark for htp plastic. i had a prijon delirious for 3-4 years and i bought it second hand off a guy who had it for 1-2 years and he bought it ex demo and i sold it off this year. the only noticeable mark on it was on the bow where rocks kept hitting it from doing bow stalls in summer. What im trying to say is that the plastic is rock solid and theres none stronger on the market i think. from the prijon website the specs match a chopper.check it out its like a dancer so it would be a good beginner/liffey descent/teaching boat. But they should say in the add about getting proper instruction, good job they dont come with spraydecks! heres the link.

Realistically I don't think anyone could in good faith advise this as a good boat to buy unless you are going to do strictly very recreational paddling.
Even at that - you're bound to try surfing sometime and there's much better available second hand for around the same.

Want to buy  a sea tourer, sit-on, with adjustable foot rests.  Looking at a Wildnerness Rid or a Perception Freedom.  Anyone know which is superior, or anyone have any other advice/suggestions?

Hi

I phoned Lidl about buying kayak but they said u just order and they deliver so you can't see it before buying. I asked if it has adjustable foot pedals and they said no but Lidl would source and fit these no extra charge. Has anyone physically seen the kayak I'm not talking pictures. Does it have a spray deck i.e. facility for attaching a spraydeck?  Does it have adjustable foot pedals? Its a lotta money to fork out on something you can't examine.

Thanks
