the inazone is a good alrounder and a pretty good beginner boat its will pretty much do anything.

im not too sure if the size will fit you seeing as you pretty tall check out the stats of the kayak on www.pyranha.com it will tell you everything you need to know about the boat.

paddle hard, drive fast, keep it real PEACE:)

Thanking you for your swift reply, yeah think you may be right, the inazone 222 may be a little on the small size, checked out pyranha site but it didn't give stats on reccomended sizes. If anyone else can give me more information I would really appreciate it.

Kind regards.

Three of us took up canoeing last year, complete novices and messed around with different boats, I bought a prijon chopper and found her great except on surf as it is hard to keep straight, the other fellows bought a Pyranha H3 which is a big boat, which he swears by and the other fellow bought a Dagger GTX, which is a good all rounder and which I will probaly buy next. I would try a chopper as they will go over anything, plent of leg room, gives you plenty of confidence. Alot of advice you get is from expert canoeists but if you just like messing about in rivers then hopeful this will help

I bought a gt as my first yak about 2 years ago now... its a great boat thatll bring ye up to quite a high grade of paddlin....i paddled a club-owned rpm first. but decided the gt was definetely the best option....  if you can get yourself into a club you might be able to try out a variety of club-owned boats relatively easily !!

hope this helps,

Moose

If you're buying anything second hand, most sellers will be happy to let you try the boat for a weekend. If they're not happy to let you then it's reason to be wary - or they could just have a queue of other buyers.

You're tall so apart from making sure you're in the weight range for the boat (check www.playak.com for stats) comfort over a length of time is important. If there is enough space in the boat, comfort comes down to padding it out to suit you.

try putting up a wanted add in the for sale forum giving an idea of your price bracket too if on a budget (new boats can be up to 1200 - no second hand boat should make more than 750 IMO, unless it's close to unused). Also include your stats.

Hi Padraig,

I'm nearly 7 feet tall and have been using a touring kayak, the past 18 months, before that I had a sit on top.

Been trying out a few boats to try and get something a bit more versatile, but it's not easy in my height/weight/price range - so many factors!

I've contacted all the suppliers and Pyranha recommended their Pyranha Burn, but haven't quite got round to it yet. They come in 3 sizes, S, M & L and I heard there's an XL available in the states, yet to come over this way, fingers crossed.

At the moment I think the two boats of choice are the JK Allstar or WS Project 52.  You're well within the height range for both and probably ok for weight too.

Tried out the Hercules, but when it came down to it, I needed something with more of a fashion statementand so I now paddle a Pyranha Everest, it's a tad bigger than the large Burn, 147 kilos capacity and I even stuck the footrest back in! Great boat and gets me out more often! Pyranha Everest When I die, I want to go peacefully, like grandfather did, in his sleep - not screaming like the passengers on his bus!
